Meet Lyn & Ken Murchison After studying viticulture at Charles Sturt University and recognising the strong link between climate and wine style, Ken and Lyn Murchison undertook an extensive search of South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria for a vineyard site that would produce the style of wines envisaged. This resulted in the acquisition of an exotic piece of 'red dirt' (Cambrian period basalt), high up in the very cool Macedon Ranges of Victoria. The beauty of the site was an unexpected bonus. The vineyard was established in 1983. Their young family of Tom and Hilary - and two labrador retrievers, arrived a few years later. Ken is meticulous in his vineyard managment. You will seldom find such a well nurtured vineyard. This attention to detail is carried through to the winemaking and they are justifiably proud of the exceptional quality of their wines. Lovers of good food, good wine and good company, one need not feel obligated to purchase when visiting the winery. You are most welcome to just come along and talk wine, swap interesting recipes and soak up the tranquility and beautiful views.
